So I have a question for you: have you ever found anything of worth in a non-highlighted container?

I just skip most of the time non-highlighted stuff, as I assumed that is the way of distinguishing "special" stuff, from window dressing.

I had your problem in D:OS2 where the game didn't help at all in distinguishing between important and unimportant stuff.

No, but that's into because I haven't looked enough wink

Jokes aside, I think I've found items worth looting on skeletons and they're not high-lihted.

Ah. Sorry. This idea works in conjunction with another I had on a different thread; a slider for useless items and such. Set the slider to 10, and only those items of 11 or more GP in value can even be found. All crates and such with items of 10 GP or less would no longer even be accessible. So, when you do the quick search in conjunction with this, you can be confident that you won't even be able to find empty or junk containers.

The slider could be set to 1-10, or something like that, or off if you want to find everything, to cut down on this kind of thing, and it would be a slider per item tab. Want to still find all books? Book slider off. Want to find potions but not food? Consumables to 5 or 10 or whatever to just cut out food but more important consumables would still be locatable.

Then, a quick search would only have your characters find and pick up those items you are interested in as opposed to finding a ton of stuff you don't care about, and it would speed up the pace of the game with a quick search button.

That's why I want less numbers if empty, pointless containers, or containers that just contain a single worthless plate or cup. If you have an entire stack of crates and none of them contain anything of worth, they should just make them a single container or two and have those ones be empty or contain a single hammer or carrot or whatever.

Clicking on containers appeals to the gambler in us, the joys of discovery (even if it's not hitting the jackpot) vs the chance of not finding anything. As currently is, the amount of blanks is so overwhelming that it makes searching for things not fun and unrewarding. It's exhaustive how pointless it is to go through them. It's a chore.

I agree, what value do the massive number of empty containers add to the game? If all empty containers were labeled as such so you could not open them really be that bad? Make it that you can only open stuff that has stuff so if a body or container has no items in it, just make it so it can't be opened.

I would still prefer some type of group looting / search areas instead but anything to remove open empty container would be an improvement.

I agree that Larian should change the looting system. I feel we get way more junk than items we actually need. We should be able to loot weapons and gear off dead bad guys like we do in rpgs, you are able to do that in DOS:2. As for money, it should be the same. Dead bad guys should have some coin on them. As for selling items, we should get more coins than what we currently get. We get less coins than what we need to buy items.

You dont need to loot everything. DOS2 had lots of stuff but what bothered me was even Great Magical Items, was just like picking up a tablespoon.

Agreed. Finally with someone. I think when you find an item, it should make player feel good, when you give it to your character it should as well. Like Double Reward.

Its probably too big task for Larian, but it would be damn fun if Characters Personality changed when their lvl grows, or when they have items, or even when they fall in love etc. or something significant happens, dude goes to Tavern and get some beer.
