You can set Shadowheart free in the nautiloid and let her die by beeing attacked from Commander Zhalk and his goons. Then Shadowheart will be dead on the beach too. This way you wil lget the Artifact for free as intended including a neat cutscene with it. You can also get the artifact just by recruiting her and telling her to stay in camp.
