So while i think the new dirt system is looking cool and immersive, it would be nice to have the option to clean up without doing a full rest in the camp. You know, using a handkerchief so wipe your face cleanish. Or even do a quick bathroom break with soap&water so you don't reek like a barbarian before visiting the palace...

I don't want an item to use for that.

Just let Short Rest do a clean up. It's logical.

I would like to have the ability to wipe my face without a short rest (which has other gameplay mechanics and limitations attached). And if its indeed also getting attached to a short rest, i would like the settings option to NOT remove dirt automatically...

They should just let any water source clean the characters.
Bottles, barrels, rivers, etc.
For bottles, they should add an option to use them in the inventory.

Create water spell works fine.

Or make it automatic.

I would like my toon to wipe at least his face, after awhile.

To sum up:
Dialogue during/before 1 min after fight : dirt
Dialogue after 1 min after fight : clean

...You take a swig have a wash from your trust Vault 113 canteen...

Face wiping should just be automated to happen one minute after combat. So in case there's an immediate follow-up dialogue or cutscene after combat they would still be dirty and bloody.

I can't believe we are actually discussing this in detail.

As long as they have a mirror and some cleaning cloth/water bottle in their inventory, that would do.

Let's call it 'The cleaning self mini-game'

the "wet" status reduce your sweat, blood and mud by 50%, too bad the raindancer is only usable once per short rest. I get it's a first level spell and all but having an item that can cast it at will, possibly with a reduced range or area is really useful... (especially with all those fun surfaces... I'm patiently awaiting my favorite cantrip : prestidigitation)

Prestidigitation can clean up dirty surfaces if we do need an excuse to keep ourselves cleaned. But I would simply implement a toggable option for "Dirt".

if dirt/blood had influence on intimidation / charisma checks then it might be something worth having implemented so early in EA, before the vast majority of the game is completed. This is flavour that should have been ignored until later on.
Short rest should clean yourself up but, no need for more junk items like hankies, and it should take alot longer to get dirty. Clean in the morning, 10 minutes later covered with filth. Just a pointless and unnecessary addition that brings suggestions like this to distract you from finishing the game.
