I think you are focussing on the wrong thing here... half of the female character's ass clips through the githianki half plate, that is an issue, that is a part I would rather keep protected.
Wich kinda confrims my suspicion that cliping problem is certainly not the reason Larian refuse to give us that armor ...

Are the Netty's Gloves you find in Netty's infirmary a unique model? I haven't tried stealing them myself.

As far as i know there are another gloves with same model (unless i remember incorectly it should be Gloves of Flint and Steel model), so they certainly are not unique ... and they most definietly are not that "Druidic" gloves everyone else in the Grove is wearing (grrrrrrr) ...
But they are looking different than regular leather gloves.
