This is a bit misleading imo, as you have to consider that the experience you get from higher level monsters also goes up. Not as quickly as exp required to level up does, sure, but enough that time to level up doesn't scale exactly with the experience table.
I agree that level 1 -> 2 and level 2 -> 3 should come fast, but not incomparably fast to other levels. Relating to tabletop, I've found that it feels about right to reach level 2 in 1-2 sessions and then level 3 in 3-4 more sessions, with later levels coming every ~4-8 sessions. In particular, level 2->3 should be significantly longer than 1->2.
Plus, you're managing an entire party, have access to weapon skills, any class can cast any scroll, everyone has bonus action shove and hide, and there are a decent amount of consumables. So there's still a lot to do even at level 2, unlike in tabletop where a martial character might be extremely limited in options.
Fair points. All I was trying to say is that asking to slow leveling down might be a bit early to ask, since we only know a lot of the game's prologue and first chapter. Depending on how much experience is awarded later in the game, the leveling process might slow down compared to the first 3 levels. In fact, considering that Larian originally planned for the level cap to be 10 at full release, I'd guess they have already taken that into consideration.
The any-class-can-cast-any-scroll thingy has been mentioned before and I'm convinced that his will be changed to the way it works in the PnP no later than full release. Actually it's reasonable to assume it'll be fixed before then, because it will have an impact on the difficulty of the game.
Fun fact: In my current DnD group we don't use EXP at all. My DM decided to go with the milestone system instead and we have come to appreciate that. Maybe that would be an option for BG3 too. Just flick a switch in the menu when starting a new game and level up at specific points in the game instead of chasing after every point of EXP. Or don't and use EXP to get as high of a level as early in the plot as you can.
Anyway I'm confident that Larian will get it right. There is quite some feedback to be found here, so that's good I say.
