What party is Joe Casual running? What party am I running? My party has, twice now, done this encounter with no combat at all, so if it were possible to do so, I could have just hit the area transition to the next phase. No "cheese" required."

Indeed. Especially when running a face as your PC, you can get outta this scene without fighting, and get Lae'zel's approval in the process depending on how you play it. Also, there is an interesting hack where you hold your cursor right where the turn'based button is and immedately after the dragon and rider fly off, click the button. When time pauses, hit/shoot the closest Gith running away, combat starts. You can get the benies of a non combat encounter and all the Gith equipment you will need in EA. I've deliberately reloaded many times in a playthough to get this result....;-)
