Is it just me or is two weapon fighting just broke! I can never get it to work, main hand attack works fine but after the attack the off hand weapon always says out of actions but I thought it was a bonus action? I got 2 weapon fighting at level 2 for my ranger but it has never worked and you can't use 2 longswords or scimitars either which doesn't make any sense but it will not matter if it's broke anyway.

there's a hotkey that says ''bonus attack (off hand) when you equip a second weapon. And you can only equip a light weapon in your offhand until level 4.

Even when it works, Dual Wielding was never amazing and in BG3 it will get weaker every time Larian adds another Bonus Action that competes with the off-hand attack and makes it redundant.

Off-hand attack should really be a part of the attack action in 5e too.

I have been using a short sword but why and what hotkey? I have the icon in my action bar currently.

Most of the time you will automatically perform your bonus action off-hand attack if you still have a bonus action left when you make your basic attack.

There's a hat that gives an extra bonus action if below 50% hp iirc. Give that to Asterion along with Loviatar's blessing, the gith shortswords, and some of the other 'below 50% hp' items and you could probably make a pretty good build for him from that.

Just finished my second playthrough of patch 6, with my signature dwarven two weapon fighter. At lower levels, it is what it is, a low probability to hit with either weapon, not just offhand. Normally, I'll use a great sword, like Everburn, until I get to 4th level when I can take Dual wielder. Him wielding both named warhammers, or even putting Minthara's in his offhand was quite effective.
