Hi guys,
I just launched patch 6 for the first time and, as some mods are up to date for it, I decide to begin a new game with them. I used only those that are tagged "working on patch 6". Problem is, after a few hours I ran into some real regressions and I was wondering if they are coming from Patch 6 or mods. So can you tell me if following points also happen in your game :
1) Visual and lights : On patch 6 it seems Larian adds some serious visual "improvements". But I found some problems with it, especially with lights effects. Depending on the light many characters often had some blue, or white strange coloration on their face during dialog sequence, especially around eyes. More of that, in some place lights become crazy, clipping from light to very dark when you turn camera.
2) Video scene : During some video scenes, objects are sometimes missing, like the dwarf tadpole outside the grove, or even auntie Ethel that just disappeared during her scene when meeting her at the grove.
3) Some people are still afraid by my ranger wolf (children in Mol's lair, goblins in abadoned village, the Zentharims trapped by the Gnolls...)
4) Some video scenes seems to have been completely removed (dialogs are still triggered but there is no more video scene) like when Nettie try to heal you (or kill you) or when Astarion try to bite you.
It will really help me to know if I can continue with my modded saved games or if I have to begin a new one :), so thank you for your help !

It's the patch causing those problems.

Yeah, patch six basically introduced a bunch of serious bugs, some annoying, some downright game-breaking. The worst one that prevents me from playing is not being able to target anything on a higher elevation, since the camera just drops straight through the floor, or the completely janked equipment selection, or the completely messed up left/right menu selection, or the fact you have to be in turn mode to interact with important story elements... the list is almost endless.
The way the game is at the moment, I doubt we will see a 2022 v1 release.

The glowing eyes seems to happen when one of your team has "speak with the dead" recast available. The lighting and camera are, to put it plainly, an absolute nightmare. Sometime it goes to total darkness for a few seconds when changing to a character with darkvision, sneaking, changing character during a fight or dialogue..... it is a serious graphical issue almost game breaking. Sometimes body parts will vanish if you are dual weilding hand crossbows...the list goes on and on.
Patch 6.

Ok patch 6 then, I can continue my run ^^ Thank you for sharing ! In that state it's indeed hard to believe the game can be released in 2022 or even early 2023. I guess we just have to wait for some hotfixes now

Welcome to the bread and butter of Early Access lol. Though the state currently makes it hard to judge how far along the entire product is. I expect the dev build have most of the acts already in place including voicework and quest outlines. Act one just serves as the testbed on which they base how to adapt the product as a whole. So I expect more polish to come as the next 3 content updates (which I assume will be something along the lines of missing areas or even just classes). Act one is missing roughly 3 zones still, being mountain pass, the shadowed lands and Moonrise Towers itself. Act one is looking to be quite chunky when it comes to area content compared to DoS 2 to say the least.
And yeah on top of the increased size comes heightened complexity of the source material and the complexities of guiding the development process across multiple offices world-wide and with varying degrees of complexities due to Covid-19 pandemic. So yeah, end of 2022 is my most optimistic guess. But in reality I expect Q1 or Q2 2023 to be more realistic. Most stuff in development has been pushed back in many dev studios. I hardly count release dates set in stone, for any game as long as the pandemic rages on, sadly.

...I actually haven't noticed those. If you're playing the PC release I think many of those are not present, on Stadia though all are

+1 to the regression of patch 6, on all points.

Clearly patch 6 broke a lot of little things, most annoyingly to me things apparantly not being quite where they appear to be so that I can't reach them even though my character appears right next to them or there is insufficient room to move them even though there is lots of open space around them. However, it's hard to know whether these bugs are easily repaired glitches or represent "important" problems. During early access I'd certainly rather the devs try things rather than be overly concerned about introducing bugs. They can decide later what can be fixed and what needs to be reverted.
