In my honest opinion ...
It would feel much better if that would be some lesser kind of guardian (dunno, Golem prehaps? they could reduce its stats and arguin by that he is ancient and damaged) ... that would be killable the regular way, with option to outsmart it with small puzzle ... also it should offer us some way to identify as rightfull users of the Forge (wich could be impossible, but that "option" even if void should certainly be present) since personaly i kinda doubt that whoever created the forge then created this guardian and "programmed it" to kill on sight anyone who try to use the forge, meaning himself included
That said ... single hit with that forge hammer should be enough. :-/
If this construct is stupid enough to fall into same trap twice in a quite short row ... its kinda diminishing the feeling. :-/
