1371-1372 comes from various sources in the game. I believe even the records you find on your way down into the Underdark give you an idea of when it all happened.
So Moonhaven was raised, it seems, when the Dark Justiciars raided it back in Uktar 1372.
It's also according to some documents found in the grove.
But honestly, I've had my doubts that Larian has had two groups working on this, neither realizing what the other is doing because some elements seem like Moonhaven was destroyed recently while others imply 120 years ago.
It's like Aradin and Halsin and their expedition. For the longest time I thought they'd only been gone maybe a week and the tieflings we're maybe in the Grove for a few weeks tops. Looking at the timeline in the different records (some you have to steal) you find out Halsin's been gone like a month and a half and the tieflings arrived two month ago.
But the temple is five minutes jog away! What the heck has Halsin and Aradin been doing for over a month and a half, and how were they NOT discovered until just before you show up at the Grove? A month and a half? Really? I had a hard time reconciling that one, creating for myself my own set of catacombs deep under the temple and somehow Aradin and his crew managed to slip in past the goblins and got lost in there for a month and a half, trapped in the nebulous catacombs I created in my mind hoping to find some secret path into the Underdark.
Honestly, it doesn't at all make sense. Even IF you pretend the temple is miles away, it shouldn't take them a month and a half.
So, I fear the same thing has happened with Moonhaven. Some group made it thinking it was destroyed recently and another that wrote the tomes and books thought it was destroyed during the Time of Troubles.

Tweaked the timeline. https://baldursgate3theafflicted.blogspot.com/2021/08/home.htmlChanged the parts about Eliette being the apprentice and about the missing children. Want to make it as accurate as possible. Thanks for bringing some things to my attention. It is pretty clear, now, that Eliette likely escaped drow captivity and made her way into the Whispering Depths on the night Ilyn Toth was killed during the Dark Justiciar raid on 20 Nightal 1372. As the apprentice was making his/her way into the Whispering Depths to retrieve the key gem, Eliette ran into them and killed them. She didn't know what the key gem went to, so that explains why the Necromancy of Thay was still locked away in the Necromancer's Lair. Eliette just kept the gem for herself, thinking it was nothing more than a pretty gemstone. The only two people who knew about the book were dead.

From everything we're finding, did the Justiciar conflict happen around 30 years ago? Where do we get a timeline for that? GM4Him says 1371 but I'm not sure where that comes from. At this point I'm wondering of the Cult in BG is made up of the refugees from Moonrise, such as the stolen children, Half-Elves live slightly longer than humans...I'm not sure if SH fits in well there, especially if the interlude is from 1371 - 1492 I think the 1371 date is coming from the book by Kagha next to the candles. It's called something like Logbook XII 1371. On the second page of the book, it mentions suspicion that a Red Wizard has moved into the nearby village. Three rangers were dispatched to investigate. This all assumes the 1371 stamped on the book stands for the date and that the Red Wizard in question is the same one as the necromancer from the Blighted Village. But I think those are pretty good assumptions. That would make Shadowheart pretty old now that you mention it. Half-elves don't live quite as long as I was thinking. Apparently about 180 years. It would mean she lived through the spell plague, which didn't happen until 1385.

Ah, but what of she'd died and was brought back to life? What if she is the Unclaimed as mentioned in the book in the Dank Crypt?
And there are other 1371-1372 sources, I'm almost positive.

And there are other 1371-1372 sources, I'm almost positive. That's a good point. And the Unclaimed is something I've been wondering about also. The game makes a point of calling attention to the book. There's a clear correlation between the story and Shadowheart. I'm going to try to make a point of carefully going through the books on my next playthrough. * Speaking of books, I'm pretty sure there's one in the Druid's Grove (in Nettie's area) that says something about Ketheric's shade being laid to rest and his glaive having been recovered. The glaive being Sorrow, of course. The implication being that Ketheric is dead. Of course, I feel like we have reason to believe Ketheric is one of the chosen of the Absolute. Where is that coming from? Is it supposition, something that was datamined, or maybe given in a clue somewhere?

And what's with the spider egg in the Harper's Camp area in the pouch with the coins that the spiders are guarding? Is it special for some reason? I don't think there's anything special about that spider egg in the Harper camp. Other than as a resource/limited use item. You know that if you crack it open, you get five spider servants that fight for you, right?

There seems to have been a certain change with the village at some point in the development of the game. Most likely they forgot to change / remove some outdated parts. It's nothing unusual. The night song was also changed (probably twice, but I'm not sure here) The question is which option is valid. Anyone know if information about the village was added in some patch?

The village doesn't seem like it's 120 years old and abandoned, though, does it?
But I can't deny the logbook by Kagha with the 1371 stamp mentioning the Red Wizard.

1371 confirmed again.
The dark journal that belongs to Ilyn Toth is dated 1371 DR. It's the journal you find in the coffin before you get to the mirror.
Whatever happened in the Blighted Village happened about 120 years ago. Long time.

I tried to rush through things this time to test a few things, and find these books with dates you're mentioning. First, going to Nere before meeting Minthara doesn't give you much (any) information about the lantern like I was hoping, she doesn't give anything up before the grove is destroyed, I'll have to go through an evil playthrough to see if there's anything there.
Second, Non-Lolthsworn, Drow infiltrated Grymforge, unless I'm understanding it wrong, the lore around having red-eyes is new to me or forgotten anyway. We have a new group of actors maybe.
Nere says the General (Thorm apparently) is interested in the temple because his necromancer Balthazar-- something something. From what I'm hearing from you guys, his pact with Shar probably had to do with bringing back from the dead someone he lost, and maybe Shadowheart is involved.
New name Disciple Z'rell, according to Thrinn, Z'rell is the absolute's favorite and speaks with general.
I found the 1371 logbook, I'd probably read it before, but I wasn't %100 if the 'group from Baldur's Gate' was supposed to be Justiciars/Sharrans. I also think the necromancer could have been living in the village for a while, at least a few years. Though Thorms subversion of the Temple probably went on for a much longer time before that.
I couldn't find anything else with 1371, I also remember there being more books in the druids inner room, maybe not.
Edit: I'll have to look again at Ilyn's journal.

I might be wrong, but from what I remember, Halsin felt responsible for Thorm's fall. If I remember exactly, it was mentioned in the older patches that Halsin killed Thorm's daughter. I also remember that at some point they removed this entry, but I won't give a head for it Thorm's daughter was probably Isobel. I also practically sure that Larian changed the roles of this character several times.
If Moonhavean was destroyed more than 120 years ago, it doesn't make sense for Shadowheart to have a connection to this place (she certainly doesn't look like someone who is around 130 even for a half-elf)

You know, that could be why she's wearing Dark Justiciar-like armor in the beginning. If she was wearing it when she died, and just recently got resurrected... As for the General being Thorm, there is a defaced statue of Shar in Grymforge. Someone defaced it with the symbol of the Absolute. It implies Shar and the Absolute are not allies. So the General is likely not a Paladin of Shar like Thorm. I mean, like Minthara, he could have turned from Shar, but I doubt it. Thorm, if I remember correctly, died during the conflict with Roa 120 years in the past. He could be resurrected, of course, like my theory about SH, but it didn't seem like that to me.

The Absolute was the Unclaimed.
That's why the Absolute is at odds with Shar.
We see a similarity between Shadowheart and the Unclaimed for a storytelling reason in that regard. It showcases how Shar treats her followers and gives us some small insight into the Absolute's history. It also creates more drama for Shadowheart, who will be either fighting or joining this tragic figure turned monster.
*
But how did the Unclaimed turn into the Absolute?
This is all guesswork, of course, but is it possible that the dead three claimed her? Myrkul, Bane, and Bhaal? And that's why we notice their symbols within all things Absolute.
*
What does this have to do with Gith, Mind Flayers, and Cambions? I'm not sure yet.

Does it say somewhere in Grymforge that drow without red eyes infiltrated Grymforge? Nope. Phone glitch. TRAVELLER'S GUIDE TO THE SWORD COAST VOL. IV: THE RISEN ROAD | BALDURS GATE 3 WIKI An old, cheaply-bound book that's starting to fall to pieces.
The stained, well-thumbed pages filled with travelling advice that seems to be decades out of date]
... those who seek to journey to the coast from the interior regions lying to the east will typically seek out the Risen Road. Running parallel to the River Chionthar, the Risen Road provides an overland route all the way from Elturel to Baldur's Gate, and has proven tempting to travellers seeking an alternate to the river barges that sail the Chionthar.
A portion of the road approximately halfway between Elturel and Baldur's Gate has in recent years developed into an enclave for Selune worship, with a temple of not insignificant splendor lying near the road. Indeed an entire village, Moonhaven, has developed alongside the temple, and can provide food and shelter to weary travellers.
Farther east lies the citadel of Moonrise Towers, where a toll is required for onward passage of goods and folk alike. Some are tempted to go off-road in order to avoid the toll, however bandits and other dangers may cause them to pay a much steeper price... REGARDING STRANGE RIDERS IN THESE PARTS A tear near the top of this notice suggest it was one pinned for display - and perhaps torn down.
The date on this letter has faded with time, but the papers alone indicates great age.]
My fellow citizens (for fellow citizens we are, like it or not!),
I print and post multiple copies of this notice in the region, at no small expense to myself, because I feel a growing Concern and Alarm at the Presence of Strange Riders in These Parts of late.
Many of you will have seen them - tramping through our forests and towns under the guise of 'patrol'. They claim they are guardians, sent from Elturel to protect the borders of 'the great and holy nation of Elturgard'. Don't be fooled by shining armour of handsome mounts - I never bent the knee to any Elturgard, and I never asked any metalled jester to come peering over my garden fence.
As you all know, I'm descended direct from the original Selûnite settlers along these banks (and I have a half-elven great-uncle who'll swear to it!). We're peaceable folk, and we get on with the druids well enough, but I pay no fealty or tax to any far-off city I can't even find on a map.
I took no small pleasure in telling these thugs just that, and I urge you to do the same. They call themselves Hellriders. I call them interlopers - and they can bugger off to the hells, them and their city both.

The tome contains the magic I need, but it fights me at every step. As does my apprentice. At least my familiar has made it easy to secure bodies without raising suspicion.

'But why?' Roa screms, the beast within barely contained. 'Why follow Shar? Why destroy Moonhaven?'
Ketheric stares down [haughtily? cruelly?] at Roa as he steps over bodies of Harpers and druids alike. 'Shar knows all.' He smiles [maliciously?]. 'She gave me a holy mission. I'm merely fulfilling it.'
'The people of moonhaven trusted you!' Roa cries, his anger rising. 'How could you turn your Dark Justiciars on them?' Ketheric smiles, 'They needed the target practice. Can't have Shar's elite getting rusty, now can we? As for you...' a crescent blade appears in his [cruel?] hands. 'You are but one lone druid, Roa. Who are you to stand against me?'
Roa forces himself to his feet, Silvanus' fury coursing through him.
'I'm your downfall. Today you die, Ketheric!' All these things imply 1371-1372 when Moonhaven existed. There are more, but I don't have them handy. I'll add more later.

Elturel and the Hellriders and their patrols along the Chiontar predate Elturgard by decades, far into the 14th century. I don't have a hard time imagining it easy to get Elturel the city-state and Elturgard the 15th century country with Elturel as it's capital confused.
