Gith eggs?! The old Fiend Folio says the Gith were originally a race of evil humans conquered by the Mind Flayers for use either as slaves or fine dining entrees. I guess it is reasonable to assume that through repeated exposures to RNA/DNA alterations, the Gith would over time start losing some of their human appearances. But a fundamental change from human to monotreme is quite remarkable! I suppose the Gith could have been originally from Australia, where this phenomenon has occurred before.
