This is a cool addition - a detailed mechanic like that is more interesting to interact with then just abstract “roll to stay hidden”. Add to that Thief-like environment interactions (dousing light sources) and we have a promise of genuine stealth experience. Except it’s all broken and doesn’t work, as stealth games don’t design themselves. It’s not a functional stealth-system in itself, and it creates issues with already existing, complete systems like combat.
There's a pattern. They're doing the same thing with everything.

Surfaces were added, but they were completely overdone, everywhere, any excuse to make more, no D&D saving throws and they ruin concentration spells etc.

Verticality was added, but it's everywhere, most important factor of any fight. As if that wasn't enough already, Shove was turned into a Bonus Action and made much more powerful.

Stealth - vision cones and turn based exploits, and now any Fighter in Full Plate is a master ninja. Forget about D&D skills. Circle behind your opponent and "hide" for Advantage during melee combat.

If only they had some sense of moderation and balance, and their additions could be great, tasteful and fun. But they have absolutely none and turn everything into a broken mess.
