I propose to discuss this charismatic drow mage in this thread. Interestingly, there are different possibilities - to kill him, take the quest to talk with the General in the Towers of the Moonrise and talk with Minthara, or convince that the Absolute is a deception and get his blessing.
Would you like him to become a companion too?

I would in first place like him to show my Female Drow respect she deserves ...
Then i would like to turn Duergars against him ... i mean sure, there are 3 options, if you really wish to stand against him ... but they all have same outcome. :-/
Specificaly i would like to point out for them when he say that "If she really is the Absolutes chosen, she will save her." that she didnt save HIM in the first place, i did ... and therefore he failed his own test and prooven himself to be unworthy of the Absolute. :P
And then i would certainly like to know what the hells are those spells he is using, all of them actualy.
After all that ... Yup, why not ... he would be interesting addition for my Evil group. Not sure tho if he would even be physicaly able to follow your comand, instead of giving his own orders.
I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!
I found Nere to be rather UNDER-whelming. Granted, haven't gotten there with the good path, but the evil path was like, [spoiler]"Hi, Nere. How are you? You doing okay? I just saved you from poison and certain death."
"Yeah. Yeah. You're great. Kill all the duegar," Nere replies.
"Um. Okay," I say. I kill the duegar.
"Ah. Good. Now, I can't help you with anything. Go take the elevator and go to the surface and meet the guy Minthara told you to meet on the road. Why did you even come here? You should have just met the guy on the road like you were supposed to. See ya."
Um... What was the point of all this? Why, exactly, did I help free you and why did you want to kill all the duegar? That wasn't real clear. I'm fairly certain you're just a nutjob, to be honest.
But, like I said, maybe it's just the evil playthrough.
I like Nere as a villain. Great look, the fight probably needs a little tweaking, but it's good overall. If you face it straight on, it's reasonably challenging.
I don't want Nere as a companion. Everyone can't be a companion.
His stats are outrageous. I really don't like it when the stats get boosted like that. I prefer NPCs to follow the same rules PCs follow, in general and at least in spirit.
I'm annoyed that I can't take his outfit. I like the look. Why do all the NPCs get to look great while my characters are stuck in generic land?
Finally, I appreciate that there are multiple paths when it comes to dealing with him, but I strongly disagree with the ability to convince him to turn away from the Absolute. Turning someone away from the Absolute should be a quest in and of itself. It should be a big deal, a very big deal.
If the player sides with Nere then I think a reward should be in order. Maybe something as simple as giving the PC two duergar mercenaries to join them and aid in their quest. That would create an active incentive to follow that path and make it feel like a reasonable direction.
He is interesting, would definitely like to see more character development with him throughout the game. Would be a good choice for the male equivalent of Minthara for people who prefer that. Really though, with his attitude I would keep him alive long enough to teach me his spells and give me his boots, then kill him. Or have him pass on the word about the Absolute, could be useful for that, but I still want the boots and at least the force choke ability.
Why can we save the gnomes ONLY if we first save Nere and then fight him and the duergar simultaneously?
1. If you ignore Nere and attack the duergar you have to fight the gnomes too (which strangely join the battle against you). 2. If you save Nere and want to save the gnomes it does not work as there is no such an option.
The only way to save the gnomes is to save Nere first and then attack him and fight him and the duergar. Only then you can accomplish the quest.
This is very weird and feels like hardcoded option which makes no logical sense at least compared to all other quests in Act 1. With other quests there is usually several ways to do things, but here only one option is present. What is the problem to slaughter the duergar and let Nere die from the poison. Gnomes will remain free, believe me they won't sit around with all their captors dead.
I think it would be incorrect for developers to draw conclusions on the% number of player decisions to convince Nere to leave the cult of the Absolute in Early Access. We just do not know how this decision will have consequences in the future
Although I myself wrote earlier that convincing True Souls such as Minthara/Nere to leave the Absolute and go with us is a good idea. It is somewhat premature before exploring the Moonrise Towers.
I do not see any profits from this at the moment, in the Moonrise Tower there is a certain General, the Absolute, and there are many interesting things that need to be investigated and find out their offer, before making a choice - to be a supporter of the Absolute, the Highest Good, or Our Own Side of personal interests
What unites our party is a tadpole in the head, True Soul also has one, which hints at the fact that we are in the same boat and these may be our companions or allies one way or another

Lots of other ways. 1. Begin by murdering all the duergar just randomly, then leave nere in there to choke.. or open it up to murder him. Note gnomes stop digging if the duergar are all dead. Mound it easiest by killing all the small parties and then graduating to kill them from the staircase, forcing the duergar to waste rounds running towards you. Lone people as known do badly vs a party so down in 1-2 rounds depending on spells/skills available after finishing off the duergar, either way he is dead meat. And the gnomes live!
2. Just leave him there to die for a lot of nights. Presumably. havent tried that so far, just seen vids its a possibility to find a corpse.

1. If you do this the gnomes join the battle too. At least that's what it was when I played and I tried it three times - always the same outcome.
2. If you leave him there to die the duergar with the gnomes disappear. If you fight the duergar guards with Nere still inside gnomes again join the battle against you.
