Does anyone else think it's odd that they're siblings? Two humans and a dwarf?

Oh my God JandK, you can't just ask people why they're white a Dwarf.

Edowin could be a human dwarf. Or maybe he was adopted?

I thought they called him brother the way monks are brothers.

Maybe Mama Dwarf and Papa Dwarf had Baby Edowin, and then there was a terrible accident at the mines that left Mama Dwarf a widow, and in time she remarried, only this time to Human Step Daddy. Unfortunately, tragedy struck again and Mama Dwarf was taken away in a freak lightning storm, leaving Human Step Daddy all alone, except for the attentions of the next door neighbor who, in time, became Human Step Mommy.

Over time, Human Step Daddy and Human Step Mommy became the proud parents of Baby Andrick and Baby Brynna, who always looked up to their big step brother, even when they grew tall enough to technically be looking down.

Makes me wonder how long Edowin had been a true soul before that fateful day with the owlbear, and why Andrick and Brynna were so devout in following him?

As opposed to being like, "That's our crazy step brother, Edowin. He thinks he's a true soul."

The narrator refers to them as siblings.

His character sheet says he's a dwarf. And yeah, he could be adopted. There are ways for them to be siblings.

It just feels odd to me. Like, they could have made Edowin anything, a dwarf, an elf, a human. Why pick dwarf when his siblings are both human? It's not like Edowin has a big role other than being the first place we hear the phrase True Soul.

It's like, you know how Mayrina *feels* like the sister of her two brothers? That feels like a family. The brothers go looking for their sister who's run off to the hag. In that scene, it works that they're family. It makes the scene stronger.

In the Edowin scene, it doesn't really feel like they're family. It leaves a question mark on the scene; as someone else put it, are they calling him brother like someone would call a monk brother? Is it a religious title of some sort?

But if all three of them were human with, say, red hair, then it would help to reinforce the familial bond and provide for a more emotional scene.

Could be a fault of translation. Might have been aiming for "brethren".

I took it like they were just completely delusional, in the same way the that fishermen and basically everyone on the Nautiloid were all tripping out pretty hard. Like that none of the Novices were siblings, and it was just absolute trickery messing with their minds. Had them thinking they were all family. They're basically the first cultists we run across, but even then I still read more like they were just legit bewildered and bewitched as opposed to a monkish kind of brother sister vernacular. Andrick and Brynna are now neck and neck for Best Hair too, since she wound up with the Minthara rocker hair in the end and his is amazing. Some of the better NPCs in the game in my view lol

I agree. Delusional. They look nothing alike, any of them.

Andrick wins, though, for Best Hair. Hands down. 😏
