I would love to see something like this added. However it should be later on after release and as an optional DLC. Too many people start foaming at the mouth at the mention of pvp in any game (and that some people like it at all) for it to be something that they "waste" time on developing before the game is fully released. Also they have more than enough to work on right now without adding this.
Ideally it would have some small maps with different layouts to allow for using tactics rather than just staring at each other then fighting. Of course there could be arena combat maps as well. Have an option to do matches with 1-4 people and have different types like team combat or last person standing.
Haven't tried it myself yet because I only play single player, but if it was added I would definitely look for matches.
Even if they don't add a DLC for it, they could have the option for people to duel to resolve differences and agree on group decisions. Have it so you fight to 1 hp, not death. Might have to have this as a menu setting, and then have some notification that a group you are joining has this option enabled to avoid traumatizing certain types.
