I've read other posts about parties unable to go to camp, but couldn't find it in the search.

I went into the arcane tower and fought Bernard. After a couple of tries, I won, but my PC was dead somewhere deep in the chasm. 3 others still lived, so I thought I could end the day and have "me" resurrected by Withers.
But I couldn't because "Fast travel" was not possible. So left the arcane tower and tried in several other places, but everywhere I tried I got the same problem. No way to return to camp.

So I reloaded the save before the fight and replayed itt. This time all partiy members survived, and I could go to camp and end the day even on the spot.

So what good is it to continue the game without the lead character and without a way to return to camp ? You might as well say game over then, like when all 4 are dead.

Were you trying to travel to camp by way of clicking the long rest button, or were you trying to travel there from the map and selecting you camp from the list? It won't let you do the former with a dead party member, but it should let you do the latter, so that you can go to the camp during the day to rez and reclaim your dead party member.

The game itself currently does not explain this in any way.

I chose the go-to-camp-and-rest option. I didn't try the other fast travel because the message seemed quite clear. Thanks for the info, next time I'll also try the other way.
