I have the same issue. I successfully made the splint armor and retrieved the mould. Now the mould lever and lava wheel ar both "stuck".
One difference though, is that I can't even select the crucible or mould slot/tray to insert anything.
I've also tried jumping down to use the button and try the whole process on the bottom level and the top level.
