Well, Swen gave as close to a definitive "no" today as I think he ever will. He basically said it was too complicated to involve multiple characters in a dialogue, that they tried it and that it didn't work.

As it is, I could maybe see a script mod (assuming those will be possible) that just grants party skills to the face during dialogue, who would then appear like a Mary Sue who knows and can do everything. That would mechanically solve the problem of party members not contributing, but it wouldn't be particularly satisfying. I'm not sure I can realistically envision anything bigger than that, though.

People have unrealistic expectations lmao. The coding for that would be unimaginable in a game like this.

I don't know, DOS1 had a rock paper scissors thing to let people pick, SWTOR has dice rolls... some sort of mechanic to make it more involved/fair would be nice, imo. And not just 'mod it so persuasion is shared among the team', which is boring.

Honestly it would be more than enough for me. Pathfinder works in the same way. I know that my companion is helping me and I'm using their bonuses, I don't need a cinematic to show it, I can fill the dots myself.

I think the ship has sailed on this, but a rethinking of the design choice would be nice. At least let other characters add INT- and WIS-based skill tests to assist the (usually CHA-based) speaker.

Also, I don't think it is quite as interesting as Larian seems to think for a character who happens to be in front to always be the one who needs to stay in dialogue. A character with better Diplomacy could easily step up and say, "I speak for this group" if the Fighter accidentally triggers dialogue.
