I’ve got a brand new CD for Amr Diab, it is his Album “Allem Alby”, which means teach my heart.
He has a fabulous voice and the music is modern and young and forces you to dance.
Amr is also one of the most handsome men alive today (a tip for the ladies <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> )
I am sure you can get his CD if you put a search in your favourite Music Store.

Maybe a stupid question...is it contemporary (you said dance - so i am assuming so....) or traditional? I like the exotic sound of trad stuff...

@DAD,
i didn't know you liked Arabic music ?

OMG!
Bean, are you aware of what you just said?
If you said oriental I would have “passed” but Arabic!
If you have said songs I would have “passed” but music!
There are of course Arabic lyrics beyond your wildest dreams concerning rhythm and poetic expression but you must know the language to appreciate it.
There are of course oriental musical instruments but that was only in the past as Europe have included most of those instruments in their bands now.

My favourite singer in the exclusive ultimate sense is Sara Brightman of course and you should listen to her CD with the title “Harem”. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />
But I do greatly appreciate Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli and Ricky Martin.
But then, there is Christina Aguilera and others of that style.
Finally, how can I forget The Gypsy Kings?
I have been to many countries and I speak several languages, hence I have the ability to taste and appreciate the global forms of art.

Or did you think that Arabs do not know how to sing?
Or did you think that the orient may not play music?
Allow me to open for you the door to hidden exquisite and fabulous arts that are created in the East.
This just reminds me that we have a lot of symphonic musical parties here in Japan, and the west should really be scared from having to exclusively listen to oriental musicians playing their western tunes in the far future if this pattern explodes. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I may not give it a name Carrie, the music is modern alright and the guys are using top-notch-digital-synthesizers. The music includes oriental instruments as well as violins, cellos, piano and drum-snares; so it could not be classified as exclusively this or that; heck I bought the CD in Japan so what does that mean?

As far as dancing goes, you only need to meditate on the picture of Amr’s face then listen to his voice and you shall “discover” that you have composed a new dance of your own. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

He is equal if not better than Ricky; And if you do not know how to belly dance then better learn before listening. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

Dad - the new Sarah Brightman is good??? I have been meening to pick it up, with the exotic sounds and all. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
She is wonderful to begin with, and there are not a lot of (well or i don't know of them...) Middle Eastern influenced music...though Loreena McKinnett does touch on some of it...

I will have to find a place to listen to it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

hmm, your partly right, but i didn't say shakira is lame.. i just was surprised about it.

Of course I might be wrong about FF. I heard a dozen of songs and didn't liked them. Maybe there were wrong songs....
Anything you reccomend by FF?

Twisted Sister - Cum On Feel Da Noize (sp?) cover

Only if you are into industrial-/grunchmetal I like the whole Demanefacture album (the music from Carmageddon 1) Otherwise I espially like FF - Linchpin, Messiah, and the cover of Cars

- Metallica - Purify
- Fear Factory - Linchpin (You made me listen to it)
- Bane - Release The Hounds

I like industrial!
But not Linchpin: it was the first song by FF I downloaded.
The music in Messiah-game was good, though. (by FF).

To be a good listener one should have the tolerance to appreciate different tastes.
I am only proving that I do not generalise in my rejection to the new wave music.
Some of that tasteless wave is tasteful or let us say acceptable.
I know they are because my sons listen to them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

If there was a concert hall and disco side by side, where do you expect me to be if I must be in one of the two?

Read my first verbose post on this thread and you shall discover the logic that I used.
Any scale should have two ends, right? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

"When does the hurting stop?!?! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />"

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" /> just joking.

Messiah is the most Industrial song by FF I guess.

IF you are in more emo/hardcore (you know with thos singers who ruin their voice) type of metal: try out Boywunder - (A glance away is a glance good)
