Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - General Can someone plz give a description of statuses?

I have searched and googled like crazy, including here and the wiki's and there is NO place that says what Gaping Wound of Piercing Strike is or what the Bleeding effect of Lacerate really does and Gaping Wound is NOT in D&D 5E, I just checked their website. So since a scimitar and a short sword do the same damage but have different effects, which one is better? The effects make the difference but you don't know the difference because there is no definition any where...not even in the Journal in game. Come on folks. Please.
