I agree, if they could add Githyanki from non-PHB, they could definitely add other features as well even to the base game.
For example, feats like Metamagic Adept, Transmuted / Seeking Spell Metamagic options, additional subclasses like Hexblade and Bladesinger, etc.
I mean, they are definitely not contradicting even the setting in which BG3 is made. For example, Larian could easily make Wyll a Hexblade Warlock to match his weapon proficiency / experience which was shown in certain cutscenes. Mentioned Metamagic feats and options are just another way to twist spells, so don't break the setting either.
