Regarding Gale's current model, I agree. I saw another head model for him that was much better looking and resembled the concept art. I don't know if they will implement it though. At the moment, I roll my eyes when he calls himself handsome (and anytime he brags about himself). With the last few updates they've made him more sickly looking too which doesn't do his face any favors.
This made me laugh, lol. I avoid Gale in my play throughs now. Even the first encounter when grabbing the warp point, I try to choose options to get him to bugger off and he's very adamant about coming with the group. Kind of like a door to door sales person. I like playing Gale, but every time I see his model, it's like yikes!
