Since Patch 6th the camera angle is too far away, immersion breaking for me.
I feel that I've lost that intimate feeling during cutscenes because of this too far away or over the shoulder angle or pointing upwards smirk
It feels like I'm standing behind my MC in the background instead of roleplaying as my MC.
It can be difficult to make out facial expressions properly and some scenes look awkward like Astarion's new bite scene.
In previous patches you could see expressions & faces so well with excellent close up camera angles.

Does anyone else feel this way ?

On a contrary. It's much better and characters are well framed, with extreme close ups used purposefully.

Further shows how bad the cinematic dialogues are. I don't understand why people enjoy them, its like a really bad B-movie using human cosplay fans as actors. IMPOSSIBLE to get immersed in this game. They all look like the Joe next door that went to the local Manga X D&D convention.

2 years ago I said these cinematics will age like shit and be cringy...and yup , they are comic relief on Youtube.

Pathfinder WoTr got it right (though still lacking cinematics and true impactful dialogue choices...something Larian could of done) Wish Larian stayed with text/voices + kept super realistic ultra high quality cinematics for important dialogues/events only.

I have the same feelings!
The immersion as it was before is completely lost to me. Almost everything is kinda weird - the angle, which is too far behind a shoulder, the facial expressions, which I can't properly distinguish anymore, the feeling of suspense and mystery has gone as well. Of course, I've played the game several times by now but if I were a new player, unfamiliar with what is going to happen, I would feel kinda disappointed seeing like in broad daylight who is coming to have a bite of my character.
The fact that they cut out this line about a gift is also quite saddening - I guess, it's the thing that adds to Astarion's character making him a lesser pain in the ass. After all, he does feel grateful.

I really hope, it's just some experiment and later Larians will choose the best angles and won't skip really important dialogues! smile

I must admit a lot of Astarion's scenes are just outright downgrade from patch 5. Camera too far or from down up pointing at his crotch area; half the time he is standing in unnatural position with his head turned way too far to the side ( how many people have a conversation with their heads twisted to the side like that) and that creates a weird eye motion when he is trying to have an eye contact with Tav. In some cutscenes he is looking in a different direction from Tav. And don't start me on the way he turns around now, it is absolutely awful. The scars and mirror scenes are the worst offenders, where he used to turn around like a normal human (first the head turns then the rest of the torso) whereas now he turns like a person with a back surgery (slowly turning his whole body at the same time). I really hope they could return the body motion/cam angles/closeups from patch 5.

Agree with this. I know the broken necks are happening with a lot of NPCs right now but changing all the camera angles and such on Astarion scenes that were once good was unnecessary. Many more times now than it used to be, the scene's either a super distant shot of him (and my Tav's back) or an extreme closeup where I can count the pores on his face.

Yep, absolutely agree!
Mirror scene looks horrible now (compared to what we had). it's like a camera is more fixed and far away, the movements are more jerky and it looks quite unnatural.

Yeah, for me it's the bite scene. The camera angles are so awkward during the conversation now. The new far away shot in conversations works sometimes but in others it just takes you out of the scene and feels out of place. The bite scene with Astarion in particular. I feel like they keep trying new camera angles for the sake of change and it's hit or miss. Most of the changes in Astarion's scenes are a downgrade imo.

The kind of sideways angle characters stand in scenes now, with their head turned away, is unnatural and distracting. Also seems to result in a lot of glitching.

I really miss the way it was before. Sometimes simple is better.
