Has anyone figured out how to use them yet? If so, any tips, tricks, links to anything about it please?

I'll just quote this from another thread. It's a spoiler though.

In the house in the village with the Underdark entrance in its basement, use the bellows to light the blacksmith's forge. Use the now-lit forge (as you would the anvil), place the sussur bark into the unoccupied slot in the now-open crafting menu, and craft it. This will turn the coals' flames blue. Then, put the dagger (or other weapon of choice) into the crafting menu, same as you did with the bark, and craft it. A dialogue/cutscene will begin. It does not accept magical daggers, only regular ones.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll save that til maybe they add it to weapons other than just a dagger or Greatsword (have plenty of +1's of those).

its a pretty good weapon, it has a silence on attack
The buff effect on the weapon is extremely useful for strategy, I would honestly just recommend using it instead of waiting

I'd like to save it for a Scimitar, or another 1h dual wield sword. I've only found 2, short swords with +1 in the entire first act, and no +1 or even decent quality scimitars. Even with the silence, I can make due without it.

for the legendary recipie you have to have the sussur bark in the inventory.
click on the fireplace and/or the bellows until it lights up.
click on the gear icon appearing on the fireplace.
click on the "+" sign in the UI, it brings up your inventory.
Drag and drop the bark to the "+" sign
Hit create or mix (can't remember what it said)
the fireplace will turn blue
close the interface and click on the gear icon again
click on the "+" sign, brings up inventory again
move a basic, normal unupgraded dagger/greatsword etc onto the "+" sign
mix/create again
forged item is in your inventory

the dagger silences an enemy, can't remember what the other types did

OK, as this is an old thread that may since have been superseded by the various patches I am wondering if there have been any changes to what you can do with the basement forge in the Blighted Village.

Is it still only for the masterwork weapon or are there other things that have been unlocked since?

Larian implemented a LOT of crafting in DOS2 and they have laid a lot of the groundwork for similar crafting mechanics in BG3 by having tools, anvils, workbenches, empty potion bottles, etc into the game. But, no, crafting has not yet been implemented as of Patch 7. My personal guess is that they will implement some types of crafting in a future patch.
