Of course. I'm not looking for someone to tell me how to feel about it. I'm just curious why it would make someone cringe. Or laugh. But if you don't want to say, that's fine. If you like it, good for you... I don't. I didn't say I liked it. Actually, I think there's too much sexuality on display in modern culture. I'm not going through it scene for scene, you obviously know the scene and have a different opinion and I really have better stuff to do than reviewing a sex scene. And I'm not looking for someone to tell me how to feel about it either. And yes, there is too much sexualisation going on.

If JandK would like a break down of all the ways in which the Minthara scene is poorly made, poorly written and poorly executed, there's a very detailed thread that discusses it, over ( Here) ^.^ Unfortunately, I fear they will never take a look since they've blocked me for apparently being insulting to them. They've also blocked, according to their various statements, a large swath of other regular posters of note on these forums for similar reasons; they aren't willing to engage in good faith discussions and generally only show up to go fishing for an argument, which they then dedicate themselves to 'winning', in their view. Generally speaking, the discussion will have a much more pleasant bent if folks just don't engage. I quote you, maybe he sees it @JandK

Are you sure about that? I does seem they removed the 'good girl' from the video which I assume was a response your critique.

Have they? I admit I've not tested it in the latest patch. I'll have to go take a look. Thanks for the heads up! If it's been improved, I'll be sure to update the thread.

whether or not sex should be in the game seems moot, it will be (at least that's my impression), that being the case we should expect it to be done well, and there are plenty of threads speaking to that already.

(Truer than you think - My quick file is a barbarian with 8 CHA, so she can't actually pass the check needed to get get the alternate scene, even with a 20 - have to make another one quickly.)

Update: ran a couple of fresh files through to Minthara's scene - No substantial changes, I'm afraid. The egregiously long invisible blowjob is still the primary focus of the scene for both male and female characters, mediums and smalls, just like before.
A few small differences I did notice - Our characters don't clean themselves up after the battle, and neither does Minthara, so, since the party, and then the intimacy trigger right after completing the grove rid, the entire intimate scene is generally conducted with both of you covered in blood and dirt. Ill double check and do a comparison with these captures to the original ones I took for the thread, but at first check through I'm not seeing any differences, beyond possibly some very marginal tightening up of some positions and touches.
Edit: Oh, one other change - the lighting tweaks have filtered through to these scenes as well, which, in this case, seems to mean that there are no lights whatsoever during the intimacy scenes with Minthara, and generally speaking, you can't see jack, a lot of the time ^.^ Previously, we did it near a fire/brazier, but it was so over-bloomed that it was glaring and ridiculous (especially with pale characters who ended up with positively radiant, reflective skin). Now there's no fire, so the scene is just... very dark.

Then I'm sorry my comment led you to watch it again. I wonder if youtubers edited to avoid upsetting an algorithm.
Hope Larian listens to you. The amount of work you've put into the critique merits attention and comment.

Colour me totally uninterested in gratuitous and explicit sex scenes in a video game full stop nor an excessive emphasis on romance. I read about the sex scenes rendered in apparent detail and I think to myself what could have they have done to improve the game elsewhere with the time it took to make such scenes?
More grand adventure please, less dating sim.

City of Brass would be a grand adventure indeed!
How many people who have played table-top D&D ever gamed through a tawdry sex scene ... show hands above the table ... anyone?

One of the things I hate about the mature rating is it's like 99% of violence in video games but like 1% of sexual content in video games I do understand why video game companies do this anything more than 1% sexual content in a video game you are going to get people like this I don't know, I don't miss it. Did sex scenes really add much in da:o? If it adds to char or plot development it's good, but generally in media it's just pandering - look bewbies! Still I do find it funny that some people think that violence in video games are okay but having sexual content in a video game is going to far people like this really need to grow up and get real well this is the norm where parents are really fine that their children are playing call of duty shooting and killing. but when bewbies, that's atrocity!.. not sure that parents are really weird or facts that children do see bewbies all the time when being breastfed by their mom.

In danger of becoming political, I think this has much to do with Bioware's super progressive ideology where diversity in the end seemed to matter more than good storytelling. I sort of agree but not really - to me offering too many romance options within companion pool limits who those companions can be and make things feel very artificial and offputting. I don't think progressive ideology itself is to blame - if all companions were straight and even aimed at male audience it would still feel weird - imagine if every companion you recruit would be designed to appeal to some part of while male demographic. At some point it becomes riddiculous. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/Jm904so.gif) Deadfire suffered from precisely the same issue and was poorer for it. Le'ts look at Inquisition: Josephine - Bi romance Blackwall - Female only Iron Bull - Bi romance Dorian - Male only Cassandra - Male only Sera - Female only Solas - Female only Cullen - Female only As straight male you only have 2 options only compared to 4 for female. IMO it's quite obvious it's pandering to me due to the inequality. Never wanted all romances aimed at male audience but you can clearly see the disparity there.

I enjoy the romances and the sex scenes.
I think Larian needs to take Niara's critique to heart and decide if they are going to make softcore scenes or hardcore ones. I get why they made the decision to make Minthara scene porn -- it provides a contrast to the more romantic scenes with the main character but without genitals the porn just looks silly.
There was storytelling with the Wyll and Astarian scenes -- for both of them, their stories are written on their bodies. Both have scars that you only see while naked and those visuals are an important part of story that is being told with images.

Le'ts look at Inquisition: Can't really comment on Inquisition as I didn't play nor know much about it. Making not all companions "player-sexual" should make it better - not all companions being horny for PC should make it less ridiculous then some other titles. Still, my bigger complain - limited variety among companions - might still be the case. You won't get Jan Jansen, Keldorn, Jolee Bindo, HK-47, Kreia, Sagani, Durance, Grieving Mother and more, if you decide to make each companion romancable. And that's shame, as those are highlights (at least to me) of their respectieve titles.
