I was wondering if anyone else here experienced gale not appearing at all whenever you walk past the waypoint he usually appears from, and if so how i might fix this, because despite how annoying he can be, he grows on you and id miss him if i couldnt get him.

Once I had to walk really close to the portal and past it a couple of times in order for him to appear. Probably a bug unless you waited a really long time to go to that area, if you do this then I think he will not appear.

I've had this happen twice for me.

The first time was during multiplayer where one of my buddies activated the waypoint portal near the Chapel door. When I walked past the Gale spawn, he didnt come out. So i went through that one, out the Chapel one, and back to the Gale Spawn and then he appeared.

This also happened in single player where the above didn't work at all. I reloaded to the beach initial autosave and he spawned afterward.

Once, being a druid, I passed transformed into a cat near the portal and Gale did not appear, I think it is a bug.

Just in case it's relevant to anyone - bear in mind that thanks to Larian's kooky engine design, it's entirely possible to Sneak Past many important game triggers, by literally sneaking through/over/past their trigger zones in game, in stealth.

I started the game this weekend, I also have no Gale popping up near the portal. Is this still bugged?

You can? Maybe it is a case-by-case issue?
I was creeping in Stealth Mode past the gate of Druid Grove to avoid the battle there, but the cutscene with the Running Dog mercenaries and resulting Goblin attack still ensued ...

Good for you!
Maybe that was the trigger?
