As it is quite easy to use mods, and hopefully so in the release, preventing to steal Lae'zels armor is a bit ... comical. I use Basket of Equipment mod and could give my party the most fantastic stuff immediately at start like AC 24 armor with spells attached or + 6 shields if I wished. I only use it to show a bit more skin on my char (and Shadowheart ...) but I changed the too-good-to-be stats (13 AC robes with spell boosts) to the stats of normal armor, removed the boosts and only give better variants to my chars if such armor is available in the game, like the 14 AC medium armor at the ruins. First I gave Lae'zel the AC 16 heavy armor buyable in the temple and Lae'zels Gith armor went to Shadowheart, but that's bad rp I think because Lae'zel would not give it away to Shadowheart and the latter would not wear it, so I stopped that.
Fundamentally, it makes no sense to trick yourself in a game like this by cheating.
