No#2 - it seems that devs didn’t account for your actions - at this moment you are supposed to fight goblins plain and simple. There is a way to team up with gobbos later on, but not at this point. That example dies bring into question systemic nature of BG3. It sort of presents itself as something of an “immersive sim” kind of a game, but there is a lot of handscripting as well.
