Yup ... its called consequences.
Those thins were invented to drive people the way you want them to go.

Secondly, it is also an event that should have the greatest plot implications later in the game.
I believe that can be used as an arument for both sides ...
What implication does this event provide right now? Frpm both story and gameplay perspective.
"There is urgent threat that WILL wait, no stress." ?
And the game ALLREADY provides so many ways to resolve this so your only way to get undesired outcome from timer would be to forget about this quest and go do litteraly anything else.

Time limits are what should be practically non-existent for the main content.
On the contrary ...
As long as you loose some insignificant NPC during some unimportant sidequest ... nobody cares ... since they are insignificant and unimportant.
But when main quest NPC clearly states that some event is "matter of few days" ... then that it should be!
The more important quest, the more acurate descriprion ... exactly bcs of that importance.
The vast majority hate them anyway.
