Big patches (significant upgrades, new character, new area) have been released every ~4 months:
EA = Oct 2020
Patch 2 = Oct, 2020 (small update: cinematics)
Patch 3 = Dec, 2020 (medium update: inspiration, pacifism, auto-jumping)
Patch 4 = Feb, 2021 (druid)
Patch 5 = July, 2021 (camping, SH updates, enemy AI & spells)
Patch 6 = Oct, 2021 (grymforge & sorcerer)
Patch 7 = Feb, 2022 (barbarian, thrown weapons, UI)
So the next patch should be around June/July: so yeah 1-2 months.
The game has 3 more classes (monk, paladin, bard), probably 1 more area, and I'm guessing 1 companion. Add in a QoL/mechanics patch -> total of 5 more patches -> June 2022, Oct 2022, Feb 2023, June 2023, and Oct 2023.
