This game just isn't for you. Go play DOS2 instead or wait for DOS3. I think these are way more <mainstream> fun RPG games. Hell, I do bash so much on BG3 (for not being even more like a classic Baldurs gate game...) I totally recognize that DOS2 has really fun addicting gameplay, and a great fun silly world. I just hate the itemization/progress...this kills it for me.

Now if these games aren't also your cup of tea, then what in hell are you doing here? Go play Diablo/Witcher 3 or whatever latest action RPGs. You sure in hell wont like Solasta or Pathfinder either lol.
Well said! That said with that attitude that his computer barely is good enough for DOS 2 recommended system requirements, but not good enough for BG 3 maximum system requirements I can guess there will be complaining in future hehee.

I have no clue if/when Larian will do DOS3, but lets assume it will happen the day it comes he will probably complain about system requirements like why does this game DOS3 with better graphics then DOS2 have higher system requirements for maximum graphics grin ?!'

Players with good enough hardware for BG3 maximum graphics FULL HD despite graphiccards are old:

Nice! Comparison:
You lady andromedia087 have
CPU released 2021 so quite new CPU.
INTEL I5 11400 with TURBO speed 4,6 GHZ and 6 cores and 12 threads.

Mine is released 2018 CPU and that year 2018 I bought it.
AMD RYZEN 5 2600 X with in TURBO speed 4,2 GHZ 6 cores and 12 threads.

Congratulations you lady andromedia087 have faster CPU then mine not that there is practical difference in BG3, but some other games. Both seems good enough for BG3 FULL HD maximum graphics at least.

Your lady andromedia087 RAM
16 GB DDR4 3200 MHZ

My RAM:
16 GB DDR4 3200 MHZ

You lady andromedia087 have Nvidia 1080 8 GB DDR5 that is nice released 2017 and still good enough for FULL HD graphics and certainly good enough for BG3.

I have also graphiccard released in 2017.
Nvidia 1070 Titanium 8 GB DDR5... that is slightly faster then Nvidia 1070, but your lady andromedia087 Nvidia 1080 8 GB DDR 5 is slightly faster then mine. That said I guess hard to notice difference in BG3 with FULL HD graphics.

No you don't. You just want this topic to be closed by mods under the false accusation of trolling. You use the same tactics on the steam forums and your allied mods there are all too happy to enforce this cencorship.

To adress the topic i just have to say i guess it was my mistake to expect fun combat from a Larian game just like it would be wrong expecting a souldlike from From Software or an open world rpg from Bethesda. They are a DnD studio now and every crpg has to be like pillars and pathfinder because they sold so much more copies than the Divinity games...oh wait. I bought Dos 1 and 2 at release but clearly it's my time to step aside now and hand it over to the friendly and totally not obnoxious dnd fandom. I wish you the best of luck.

I expected a Larian game like the two other games that i bought and played from the same studio. I also expected a From Software game when i bought Elden Ring, weird huh? You mean to tell Larian studio fans that they are old news now? Ok go right ahead.

Again, Pillars of Eternity is NOT DnD, so I don't know, why you keep beinging it up as a DnD game.

You sound really triggered. Is this the power of dnd fandom?

Lol. Now I know you're a troll. Thanks for confirming.

Psst. There isn't 1 truthful thing that you said about me in the above quote. Not 1. And there's not 1 truthful thing, imo, that you said period about anything in the above quote.

Should i took it as "you buyed blindly and didnt even bother to read/hear/watch any advertising to find out what kind of game are you buying"?
Bcs it seems like it ...

Anyway i would not recomend such approach ... you can be quite surprised sometimes. laugh

For example i played Diablo, Diablo II., and Diablo III. ... i liked them, and i buyed another game from the same studio ...
Oh, Warcraft III. is a strategy ... completely different game, even tho its from same studio ... well, no matter i buy another game from them ...
Oh, World of Warcraft is an MMO ... completely different game, even tho its from same studio ... well, no matter i buy another game from them ...
Oh, Heartstone is card game ... completely different game, even tho its from same studio ... well, no matter i buy another game from them ...
Oh, Heroes of the Storm is (i dunno how this genre is called, i call it Dota games :D) ... completely different game, even tho its from same studio ... well, no matter i buy another game from them ...
Oh, Overwatch is action shooter multiplayer ... completely different game, even tho its from same studio ... well, no matter i buy another game from them ...
Oh, Call of Duty is First Person Shooter ... (yes i know its not "made by Blizzard" ... but its on their desktop app, so people can easily get confused ... especialy those who dont follow any advertising and just buy anything where their favourite studio is signed)
See the point?

Well, to be fair... the fun of combat is somewhat subjective. I certainly do not find combat as fun in Baldur's Gate 3 as it was in Divinity: Original Sin 2. That being said I didn't really expect the exact same combat given that Baldur's Gate 3 is built around D&D whereas D:OS2 systems are custom built for video games.

D:OS2 is either my favorite game of all-time or comes in second behind The Witcher 3. I would have preferred D:OS3 or whatever the next Divinity entry would be called over Baldur's Gate 3. I do think Baldur's Gate 3 is a lot of fun as well - I imagine it will become even more fun at level five. I think most of the non-combat systems are major upgrades over D:OS2... and as far as D&D games go Baldur's Gate 3 is the best one I have played from a combat perspective.

That being said I agree it is rather odd for someone to buy a D&D game and then complain it is a D&D game.

So based on a terribly broken system that makes even D&D look like the most balanced thing around.

Though the OP may be discourteous, they illustrate an interesting new-player experience.

With no prior 5e knowledge, they didn’t know what went into calculating hit chance. They tried things out until they found the low hanging cheese of hiding every turn for free, whereupon they destroyed their own fun.

This is a great example of the dangers of the current hiding system. When the game teaches new players (as early as the tutorial) that hiding gives a huge boost with no opportunity cost, that’s what the game becomes about.

Larian, please make accessibility a priority for upcoming patches.

Teaching the game is really something they should focus on too.
Tutorials are great... but the user interface is also be very important as proven by Solasta both in game and during the character creation.

Going on a tangent here but I really hope we get a game some day with the Cypher System (Numenara, The Strange etc....). So much simpler than D^D yet as rich and immersive. I think this system would translate amazingly to a computer game. The DM does not need to <roll> for stuff. He concentrates more on story telling. Makes the experience super smooth and fast. And I believe its a way better fit to Larian than D^D....where they have to cut so many corners.
I left D^D and Pathfinder PnP for a while now to play the Cypher system rules campaigns. Never looked back. Simple, elegant, deep.

I've heard nothing but good things about Cypher, at least for a while after it came out, but my only experience with it has only been Tides of Numenera. I don't know to what extent that game gave me an genuine cypher experience, but in terms of being fun, it was half there, it was a more interesting world than a story, and I've come to hate games give you a choose your ending in the very last section.

Frankly D&D is among my LEAST favorite pen & paper rulesets (at least among the few ones I'm familiar with).
I still think it RUNS CIRCLES around most of the videogame-specific rulesets available out there, with very few and very sparse exceptions (i.e. Darkalands comes to mind), which incidentally ALSO tried to mimic that "pen & paper vibe" of being more well-rounded system to simulate adventures rather that number-crunching "gamified" crap.

Oh, I love the Cypher system. Numenera is the big thing that made me truly fall in love with tabletop gaming. There actually is a Numenera game. Torment: Tides of Numenera. It uses the Cypher system with a few changes, but I think it's pretty cool. It has a really interesting morality system that's really more of a personality system. I reccommend it.

I would say YES to pen & paper rulesets:
Dungeons and Dragons (5th Edition) (this is 5th Editon and I want more 5th Edtion to this).
Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 (This is a classic for me I am GURU in this this not super GURU in 5th though seems logically and 5th edition is not hard for me to understand).
Dungeons & Dragons Pathfinder or its official name: Pathfinder Roleplaying Game
I would yes to this also but Pathfinder Roleplaying Games more tough because there so much more info and choices in that system. Well so I am not super expert on Pathfinder rules, but since is lots like Dungeon Dungeons 3.5 I would understand a lot and could play it.
Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Second Edition well BG1 and BG2 was this rules so I would be ok with that BG3 would use this.

I know nothing about first Dungeons @ Dragons rules... and Dungeons @ Dragons 3.0 rule was so unbalanced so Dungeons @Dragons 3.5 rules
came out and is is better then Dungeon Dragons 3.0 edition.

I would say I like least
DnD 4th edtion by far of Dnd rules... Dnd 4th is much more hard to understand then 5th or 3.5 rules. 4th edtion was so much hated so as revolution
Pathfinder system was created. Pathfinder is like Dnd 3.5++++++ much more choices and and little bit more rules to it.

The only time I have played Dnd4th edtion rules anything is when I played like 2 years the MMO Neverwinter despite it was Action MMO sometimes it was not so easy due to Dnd4th edition rules so sometimes looked online for some guide for level up what is the best build etc.

Dnd 4th edition basically removed lots fo dice rolling and also made the system more complicated.
Dnd 4th edtion rules are most disliked of all DnD rules and they made so Dnd5th edtion went back to roots.

I have played WOW MMO over 3 years (back in the days long time ago when Wrath of Lichking was released it was newest expansion to me when released and best expansion with cool PvP and PvE raids and back then WOW had over 12 million active players that payed subfee) and I noticed that both WOW MMO have copied stuff ideas from DND and also DND 4th edtion basically took the Hunter subclass of Ranger from WOW MMO to DnD 4th edition.

After feedback Dnd5th edition got back its dice rolling and more simple rules so more or less back to roots, but still new it kept some stuff from Dnd4th edtion.
Dnd 5th edition did keep the new stuff example Hunter subclass and I am ok with that.

However I could be intersted in Horror theme like example Pen and Paper try these:
Call of Cthulhu
Werewolf: The Apocalypse
Vampire: the Dark Ages

I have also played Pen and Paper GURPS rules in a fantasy setting difference to Dnd is that Gurps system is more realistic more easy to die and while magic exist it is more say rare or at least uncommon and low magic world then say Dnd Forgotten Realms.

Here is a list of most popular Pen and Paper tabletop games:
The Greatest Pen and Paper RPGs

However this game is more or less adaption of Dnd5th edtion rules and Forgotten Realms fantasy world so adapt to it hehee smile.

D&D gave a decent gaming context for the fantasy world, and it is actually quite flexible because once you know the rules, then you start breaking them. The mechanics are just probability dice rolls, which all these games have in common. I like how the old AD&D books got my imagination going, and that was enough for me, so I never bought into the newer editions.

I checked out Cypher Rulebook today ... quite remarkable. I can actually create a character with a skill focus on "Doesn't Do Much"? Ha ha ha ha!

Yeah, I'm gonna take 2 pts of "totally chill" on my next turn, ha ha ha.

Sounds like you didn't actually look at what the game was about before buying it, only who it was made by. There are people here playing BG3 now that never played any of Larian's other games before being brought here by the promise of a new D&D crpg, because it WAS advertised as a D&D game.

The only Larian game I played before BG3 was the original Divine Divinity many years ago, which was a procedurally generated active-time isometric rpg, and quite different to DOS1 and 2, which I have since played because this EA period has just gone on for that long.
