I did that. I made a tiefling draconic sorceress, gave her 17 Char and snitched Volos Ersatzeye to get to 18. I took the warlock feat and quickened eldritch blast. So far my favorite playthrough. Really nice. Btw it's the girl in my avatar.

I feel like Hex and/or Agonizing Blast (which would require taking another feat: Eldritch Adept) are mandatory in order to make it worthwhile. EB is at least partially regarded as such a great cantrip because Warlocks can get the Invocation: Agonizing Blast to add their Cha mod to its damage. Otherwise, you basically have the same thing in firebolt, except for the damage type and firebolt's single-but-powerful ray vs EB's weaker multiple blasts...
Though quickening and then normal casting eldritch blast, especially at level 5+ for 4+ beams per round, does sound fun.
You do get Hex too, If you take the warlock feat and choose it as your first level spell, which I, like the others, highly recommend. It's worth taking the feat for Hex alone. When multiclass is introduced, I will definitly play a sorcerlock.

honestly no its not worth it eldritch blast on a non warlock isn't that great
magic missile = 100% hit and that stacks with a certian item to out class the Hex \ scorching ray combo when you consider scorching ray still has to roll for hit so ShadowHeart pops a blot [advantage to next attack] and shooting from high ground is important
+ of course there is already a warlock so unless you want to solo its just better to take 2 points of char, with the volo item and 17 start that's 20 [+5]
its your game, have fun guys
