Had same issue and then I found out it is because of chest in camp. When I pick up food from chest and try to rest or save the game then game crashes but when I have food in my inventory and don't put it in chest then I can rest without game crashing.

Try exiting out of the Steam client, or Galaxy for the GOG version, and starting the game directly from the '..\SteamApps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin' folder, by right clicking the executable (bg3.exe for Vulkan, or bg3_dx11.exe) and running as administrator.

Try verifying local files: in the Steam library, right click on the game and select Properties, switch to the Local Files tab and then click on the 'Verify Integrity of Game Files...' button.
With the GOG version, in the (optional) Galaxy client, select the game, then the settings icon at the top right (beside the Play button) and under Manage Installation select 'Verify / Repair'.

Try browsing to the 'C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\LevelCache' folder and delete the contents. A corrupt file there can cause problems, though usually when saving or loading. The easiest way to get there would be to copy the line below into the location bar in Explorer and hit Enter.
%LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\LevelCache

I have done all the things that would normally fix any crashing , including, testing the Gale story line while in long rest camp fix, the food in chest fix, using camp supplies and not single food items fix and nothing seems to be working, im twenty hours into my new campaign and im currently at the area where you encounter the knolls for the first time right next to the goblin camp and save the two people stuck inside the cave, i have no issues quick saving and saving before the encounter and i went back further in my save files to try and long rest and save then , i still crashed, its looking like when you hit a certain number of long rests this is happening , and its not a resource issue my current specs will be listed bellow , i never had any issues out of any game ive ever played
Edit : And everytime i do crash , nothing shows inside the crash report and it says its found zero issues.

Not sure if this is relevant or not but I was getting these crashes after the long rest consistently. Then I uninstalled the game (which was on my HD) and reinstalled it on my SSD and these crashes simply disappeared.

Can confirm.
Had same issue today when doing new run through. 1st Long rest crashed each time when auto-selecting supplies to "fund" the Long Rest.

Using Camp Supplies does not cause a crash and you can continue on.

No Crash Report is generated.

I crash everytime, when I try to save near Volo in the druid grove - directly after a long rest. I saved the campsite after the first crash and then returend to the druid grove and tried to save again - and it crashed again

I got the same right now...

Had a game yesterday. I level up to 4 then do a few things. Rest and save. No problem.
I reload a save just before I level up to 4 so I can do things differently. I sort all my hotbars, my items, I sell things and so on... Crash when I tried to long rest.
So I reload again. Doing the same things for 20 more minutes. I tried to save to fix my hotbars and inventory management. Crash.

It definitively has to do with the long rest - I can't save anymore, after a longrest. The only other thing I changed was, that I changed out Lae'zel for Wyll and levelled him up. I did a long rest before and was able to save, so maybe Wyll is the problem.

Just happened to me, right before the goblin camp I decided to long rest, after the long rest, the game just crashes.

Edit: Not sure if related, but I just tried using DirectX 11 and it just worked, now it's.. working?
Edit 2: Looks like Vulkan-DirectX 11 is not related at all.

I use diretX, but it crashes all the same after first long rest.
I really hope they fix it soon.

Make sure you're using supplies, not food. That seems to be a super common reason for save/rest crashes.

It crashes on rest and quicksaves on many ocassions. Cant even pinpoint the cause of this

What @MacAllen said, using supplies might help

I crashed everytime I tried to get a long rest and sometime on saving.
SOLUTION: Removed every food from chest in camp fixed the issue, was able to sleep/save (even with food as supplies) without crashing.

Same dll on crashes on saving of any kind.
It's happening after teaching Gale spells I believe, though possibly after reading the Book of Dead Gods and advancing his quest.
But it got _worse_, it started happening after I loaded the working save and just tried to save without doing anything, so I'm wondering if the LevelCache thing is happening... So after you've done the "bad action" it's not even about what you do in that save anymore, the problem is the cache?

Have just deleted that and will try to save again straight after reload.

Have tried with both dx11 and Vulkan.
Vulkan crashes whenever I try and "examine" any object at all too, but that's a different error than the save crash.

Edit: Have never been to camp or had a long rest yet. But learning spells is something you would likely do without thinking much about it at camping too.

not getting this at my end but a few tests will help work out what is happening;

1, next time you get this crash try loading a save to repeat the moves you just did... if that crashes again then try swapping engines i.e, Vulkan people use dx11 instead or dx11 users swap to vulkan then repeat the test... if that fixes it then the issue will be a dll and that most likely means your system Ram is low

2 try changing camp location so there is camp [the map area], camp [the place you get sent after clicking on the bed] and camp [in a cave or ruin]... if you keep getting the same crash in the same location [lets say basic camp for example] then try going to one of the caves under druid grove or the ruin at the starting beach instead

of course remove any mods is always a first step as well

OKAY so after a conversation with support , ive found out that possible crashes when saving can always happen IF you have autosave disabled without using camping supplies [etc single food items] after the long rest, this worked for me , as i re-enabled autosave with camping supplies used on the long rest and i attempted to quicksave after we woke the next morning then there was no crash, hope this was useful for someone !

Edit : they said this issue will be resolved in a hotfix coming up

Tried it again with food only. Seems like when using fixed amount 40/40 it works as expected. For me the game crashed when I was using the auto fill function and it would go 45/40

Can you try without the "auto-select" function?
