- Hitting a target over a wall where the shooter can't possibly see.
- Being blocked by a structure above the target when, clearly, if the arrow goes straight it would hit.
- Hitting a target directly adjacent to the bottom of a cliff when the shooter is not near the edge to properly line up the shot.

It's not JUST about how silly it looks, there are occasional gameplay implications.
