Its balancing elements that they haven't mastered. To much of anything is off-putting. Overly serious, too emo, too callous, ect.
Contrast, context and set up are all tactics that can make almost anything humorous.
We are now in a room with Hitler and his generals and tensions are high! Suddenly one of the Field Marshals involuntarily lets one rip.
Stunned silence, shocked fearful expressions and side-wards glances.
Hitler: Autsch! ...Edaurd, you can tell your wife with absolute certainty that if she doesn't improve her cooking I will have you shot!
The great thing is that feedback can make overly cheesy one liners disappear.
But lets face it, how much setup can you do in a spam-able skill...they will get old period.
