Why not just make up more opporunities to get the inspiration rather then take them out completly?
Taking it out was stupid. We need more options, not less. Personally I don't care about Inspiration at all, I just want the option for a custom background and I don't mind losing inspiration to get it. I also don't care that some backgrounds may have less opportunities for it, since this might balance out in later acts anyway.
Still sitting here waiting for a Waterdhavian background so I can role play as something closer to my tabletop bard currently participating in the Mad Mage campaign and banter with Gale on a more personal level.
The base Baldurian background is just boring to me, but given how little is being done with even that, I wouldn't be surprised if the background system is never expanded on in the end. We keep seeing cutscene improvements, but I feel like even the actual role play aspect of the game is basically being sidelined for that and the origin system at this point.
