Lae'zel not following party members (but other party members following her) is an issue known since the release of alpha. For me personally, the problem started already in the prologue (and was probably triggered by sneaking) and carried on into chapter 1 and I literally can't do anything about it (please don't waste space and time by trying to suggest ungrouping/grouping, resting, dismissing, jumping, sneaking etc.). The issue can only be solved on the side of the developer.

I'm hardly the only one experiencing this game-breaking bug. Besides several of my friends, there are many posts on Reddit etc. (like I said, several even from 2020) dealing with the same problem and not a single one offers solution. I'm very disconcerned about the developers not addressing this problem, despite demonstrably knowing about it since the release of alpha. It's simply very unethical to release an alpha version of the game for the full price and then don't listen to complaints about game-breaking bugs - which ALWAYS should be a priority. Several people I know already posted a bug reports about this and nobody even replied, which prompted me to write this post.

If you know of a workaround, please don't hesitate to tell me. As far as I'm concerned, there's none and there's also zero effort from the developers to fix the issue (no patch notes released ever addressed it, as far as I know). AFTER 2 WHOLE YEARS, not counting the development made before the release of alpha.

I think the situation tells a lot about the state of the game, the priorities of the developers and - most importantly - that we can quite probably expect another postpone of release in 2023, or expect a very rough start in terms of bugginess and playability. The issue I presented is undoubtedly game-breaking and yet no visible effort was made to eliminate it.

It ****** me off to see how much money goes into silly marketing of the product still very far from being finished (just watch some Panels from Hell, though I don't recommend it) while nobody apparently cares about the game itself being free of game-breaking bugs.

EDIT: This can apparently happen with other party members also - at any stage of the game, without being able to reverse the situation - Lae'zel just seems to be the most usual case.

Hmm, I haven't experienced this, yet. I probably will now that I posted about it though... That's usually the way it goes.

I guess the real irony here is that on every other game forum that I'm active on, people complain about the lack of marketing for that particular game, GW 2 jumps immediately to mind with it's planned release on Steam, as an example.

Personally I never encountered this problem and I played through the prologue hundreds of times.

Patch 8 did create plenty of bugs with followers, including them going missing and not following, but Patch 7 had none of the issues that Patch 8 now has.

Is there anything specific that causes Lae'zel to stop following? Sneaking on the Nautiloid or clicking the button to warp while sneaking ? I could test if there's anything specific that triggers it, but I never had this issue despite the different ways of beating the prologue.

Like I said, this is not a new issue (just googling Lae'zel not following, or companions not following brings up many threads, some of them from 2020, patch 1). For me, the trigger for Lae'zel to stop following the main char was to start sneaking prior to the first fight encounter on nautiloid (albeit apparently other players experienced different triggers, some of them being scripted actions, like saving Lae'zel from tieflings). I thought this was just temporary, but the issue persisted. In Chapter 1, I can't do nothing so that she starts to follow the main char (or any other char) again.

EDIT: it is also worth noting that I have a high-end tabletop PC that should not run into any issues due to its inadequacy for the game.

I'll definitely do a bit of testing to see if I can find a common trigger, because I also put Lae'zel into stealth before the fight with the devilkins as I'm sure most people do. As for the tieflings however I never told the Tieflings to shoot her down. I always either Intimidate or Deceive them, so I'll test and see what happens.

Prior to this patch I've never stumbled upon this particular bug, but now I have the same behavior with Shadowheart. Everybody follow her, but she refuses to follow the party. Nothing helps. I've tried rests, changing the party members, dialogs, reloads - nothing works. Can the save file be edited to resolve this?

This is already posted about in the technical and gameplay problem section of the forums.

This same thing just happened to me. Shadowheart stopped following, and nothing I do fixes it. This has happened once before and it is savegame-ending. There's no way I'm going to move around everywhere having to click twice just to make sure she isn't left out of combat.
