It's baffling to me that people play for a visualized D&D handbook rather than the game itself.

Help me understand, the game is really great, it has very nice visuals, so far a compelling story and characters, the mechanics are something you either like or get used to. Why is everyone loosing their minds over a handbook mechanic? Why is that a deal breaker that you are willing to "[never] play again"? Why is a single thing worth loosing out a story for?

The game is good, not great yet. Has the potential to be the best CRPG ever. Love the story, characters not so much. So let me try to make you understand. I've been playing D&D for about 45 years, Wizard/ Magic-User is my favorite class, always has been. So with how reactions currently work, how will Portent work? Not exactly a reaction, but you replace die rolls on the opponent's or allies' turn, after they have chosen their action or bonus action. What about Counter Spell? Toggle it on my turn, watch as my Wizard burns all of his 3rd level slots on stopping cantrips. Which reaction should I toggle on, Counter Spell, Absorb Elements, Shield, ect.? They have different uses. I don't need a pop up window, I not that much of a purist. But I want to be able to choose what conditions my reaction spells fire off on. Have multiple reactions active. What priority order they are in. Without that, the Battlefield Control style Wizard is severely gimped, and for me this game will be dead. I still have hope, but I no longer have blinders on.

Auto counter-spell won't work...for all the reasons stated.

Solasta has set the new gaming standard for reaction spells...just copy it for crying out loud.
