In my opinion, there should either be 1 companion for every race, or 1 companion for every class, so we have good customization of party without sacrificing major options for no good reason.
Yeah I'd be fine with this honestly, although not feeling like my character is someone's child they had to bring along cause they couldn't find a babysitter would be great too. After the initial post I thought about the romantic options and I feel like my halfling shouldn't be forced into a relationship with someone they can't even be on eye-level with - or nobody. Unless that's their thing, I guess. No shame.

Yeah, I've certainly noticed. I was hoping (perhaps in vain) that this thread might put the idea on their radar, particularly with the recent addition of Gnomes.
