I was just reading a thread on approval, and it made me thing that companions should approve and disapprove in different amounts depending on how personal something is for them. For example, it makes no sense for someone like Astarion to put as much weight on whether or not you run to deliver a message for Zevlor, as whether or not you accept him for what he is. I still think they should be able to show that they disagree, but there is a difference between disagreeing and feeling that someone is denying one's very existence, core beliefs, or way of life. I feel like Dragon Age Inquisition did this well, by having three levels of approval and disapproval: "Slightly Disapprove/Approve", "Disapprove/Approve", and "Greatly Disapprove/Approve", with "Slightly Disapprove/Approve" being minor disagreements/agreements, and "Greatly Disapprove/Approve" being doing something very wrong or very right concerning some cause or topic that is very personally important to them. Of course it doesn't have to be the exact same way in Baldur's Gate, it's just for reference.
I don't know if the game already does this on a small level, I haven't been able to tell.

Consistency as well.

For example SH will disapprove if you reveal the tadpole to Auntie Ethel but later on she suggests visiting Auntie Ethel to get rid of the tadpole when you ask her about what to do next.

Typical woman, totally immersive!

Joke aside, I think her reaction on that is logical. Telling the tadpole issue with the healer of a druid circle is one thing, who probably can offer a cure, but telling it to a loud prying herbalist in a rather crowded market area is another, who might have yell out and run away or telling it to others, and in that case the folks wouldn't treat you as normal person any more. In fact, I think every companion except Lae'zel and Astarion should feel uncomfortable as well.

So it's not about she don't trust Auntie Ethel in particular, but rather more about the player character been reckless on this matter.

And then, since Auntie Ethel already know the problem, seems to know well about tadpole and mind flayer, and offered a solution, it wouldn't hurt to pay her a visit.

Though there is still an inconsistency in this chain of plots. After knowing what Auntie Ethel's potion did to that tiefling's legs, the companions indeed should be more cautious about this old herbalist and what she claimed.

I kinda assumed this was already the case...?
The game doesn't quantify" the approval/disapproval to the player, but that shouldn't necessarily mean that every reaction is weighted in the same way.

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN

As far as I remember the tiefling insists that the potion itself did nothing to her legs, more like she acted reckless under the potion effect and harmed herself by being clumsy.
