Nah. Actually, this won't work. Lae'zel could spam short rest and use Second Wind to heal to full every time. She'd never eat.
I think the best solution and easiest for players is the one I came up with more recently for the Megathread about resting. Some sort of flat Camping Supply cost for SR would help deter spamming it, and Hit Dice for healing. It's actually simpler and less time consuming than eating a bunch of food manually to heal and managing all those food items.
