That's pretty much what I'm suggesting with a few more tweaks, like Survival skill and spells.

5 camp supplies = SR per character while 20 = LR per character. So 4 SR = 1 LR. Hit Dice manages SR Healing. And teleport to camp every SR. It literally takes like 5 seconds at most to transition to camp when you fast travel. Dialogues could then be easily done during either.
