Im not sure i understand this suggestion ...
But if what you want is to change from:
1d6 Slashing > 5dmg
1d4 Poison > 2dmg
1d4 Psychic > 2dmg
To:
1d6 Slashing > 5dmg + 1d4 Poison > 2dmg + 1d4 Psychic > 2dmg = 9dmg total.
Then +1!
