If there ever will be a Baldurs Gate or a Faerun Lore like MMORPG with the engine of GW2 or TESO then count me in. WoW + Neverwinter Online is pure eye cancer... + Neverwinter has shitty or no translations...
Guild Wars 2 is such an old engine they do not even support Direct X 11. It has massive PvP battles ok.
WOW updated into Direct X 11 graphics really long time ago even when I still played it.
As for massive PvP battles I find the upcoming DnD MMO more interesting (I do not know if it will have massive PvP battles that is unknown) but it is certainly has the possibility with its brand new Unreal 5 Engine.
From what I have understood Unreal 5 engine is better graphics then Unreal 4 but not only that better suitable for massive battles at least that is what I believe.
Well and the upcoming MMO Ashes of Creation (note Ashes of Creation is fantasy, but not Dungeons&Dragons) is the new KING in massive PvP battles. Its aim is up to 500 vs 500 players while not yet shown that it has already have larger PvP battles in Alpha then any Guild Wars 2 PvP battle. Ashes of Creation will use Unreal 5 Engine but be warned system requirements can be high for massive PvP battles.
Well Neverwinter Online's halfhearted translations are one thing, but in the long run that old graphic drove me away. The only cool thing was the combat system and this foundry map editor.
Yeah GW2 is still struggling with Direct X 11
https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/topic/112691-dx11-rendering-beta/ but they have flying mounts AND underwater areas to explore by diving with underwater PvPvE aaaand most important to me a tolerable graphics.
Ashes of Creation, as so often in recent years, one of the MMO hopes, but what's been happening for the past few decades has always been pay-to-win shit. So I don't trust it. This also applies to this mysterious Unreal Engine 5 DnD MMORPG... But hope is known to die last and that's why I'm waiting to try Hogwarts Legacy next.
PS: The best PVP experience I had was in Aion, but GW2 with dodging system was replacing it quickly.
No I do not believe that Ashes of Creation will have pay to win power. Diablo Immortal has buy to win really much indeed (I have never played it).
I am afraid that Diablo 4 MAYBE will become pay to win and Diablo 4 will have clearly better graphics then Diablo Immortal. Diablo 4 while officially not a MMO it will also have PvP and possible with cooperative PvE. I am slightly interested and might play Diablo 4 but I really hope they do not ruin it with very aggressive pay to win like Diablo Immortal.
Ashes of Creation will have sub fee pay/month like WOW. In addition they will get money from you buy the game and later I guess expansions. I do not believe that Ashes of Creation will become buy to win.
As for the upcoming Dungeons Dragons game MMO with high graphics Unreal 5 engine it is such an early state so I have absolutely no idea if it will use subfee or be more ore less pay to win. In only hope that if they do pay to win they do it correctly like read my Neverwinter MMO comments.
Ashes of Creation is fantasy but not DnD.
I am fan of Dungeons Dragons and I have also played pen and paper Dungeons Dragons.
World of Warcraft charmed me and it is not DnD but the fun thing is that WOW has taken much ideas from DnD. However in later versions Dungeons Dragons rules 4th edition took ideas from WOW example Hunter Class for Ranger and while Dungeons Dragons 5th edition removed some annoying rules from 4th edition that Hunters is still inlcuded and that is ok with me.
Guild Wars 2 is fantasy but well did never charm and it is not DnD. Same thing with Ashes of Creation it is not DnD. Therefore I am only little interested in Ashes of Creation however if it get very good reviews I might maybe play it. What makes interesting with Ashes of Creation they will try to set record with 500 vs 500 players on same screen with very good graphics Unreal 5. Ashes of Creation was initially made with Unreal 4 and this decision move to Unreal 5 make that I do not believe it will be released soon not during year 2022-2023 so maybe 2024-2025 release?
Well and as pay to win. Neverwinter MMO is pay to win absolutely, but they did it in a very smart correct way. First of all PvP is there voluntary. Second of all even if you do PvP and you loose then they will automatically make that you will fight less good PvP Players. If you instead win a lot in Neverwinter MMO PvP then you will face better players. Well and while playing I did get as free player the fastest mount, and basically access to everything that paying player can get access to. Eventually I got bored on Neverwinter MMO and the annoying for me was the grind that you must do PvE quests to get more power in Neverwinter MMO but I did play it for at 1,5 years after it was newly released. Well either you pay money or you grind a lot to stay in reasonable power in Neverwinter MMO.
Neverwinter MMO is I would say more focused on PvE then PvP.
In Guild Wars 2? Why would I want to do PvE in GW2? At some point I can not develop get higher level and get more power. The Guild Wars 2 is weak in PvE for me. Well and whats up with annoying scaling in Guild Wars 2 of PvE? If I am powerful I should slaughter some PvE monsters. If I am weak it should be hard. I do not like scaling one bit in GW2.
I have never played Aion MMO and do not know much about it so can not evaluate it. I am totally neutral about Aion.
Well and as for BG3 what for me when it has no endgame? I do not see it as a problem. There is powerup at least in level progression. It is a campaign that I play through possible more then one time. That being said BG3 is not a MMO that I need to play n years and therefore it does not need constant power progression like WOW and Neverwinter MMO.
I find this discussion highly interesting because in addition to BG3 I am also interested in MMO:s. more or less so why can not I as consumer play both? Sure I can do that.
Well and finally. Do not worry. I do not want to change BG3 to a MMO. BG3 is single player and cooperative up to maximum 4 players is fine with me. That said I would have liked if BG3 would be changed to possible up to 6 players cooperative or cooperative up to 4 players but then add 2 NPC compansions so maximum party size would be 6 which would make it more like BG games in my view.
