If anyone cares, for fun, I am creating BG3 as a tabletop 5e campaign. I have put the Intro and Prologue on my blog since that's all I've finished so far. The battlemaps need some work, for sure, but it's all I had to work with at the moment. If you read it, let me know what you think. I'm trying to determine if there is an interest. If not, I probably won't continue.

Updated the Freeing Shadowheart section to include the new content from Patch 8. I also forgot to have her connect mentally to the PCs.

What is the character level ceiling?

All characters start at Level 1 and there is no ceiling. Prologue SHOULD get you to Level 2, or close to it. Doubtful you'd get higher than that. Chapter 1 SHOULD get you to level 3 by the end, but that all depends on your choices. I'm trying to make it as close to the video game as I can but with tweaks that I'd maybe like to see in the video game that would, in my opinion, improve it.

OK. Finished Chapter 1 Part 1 (had to break it into 2 parts. Part 1 includes the Beach, meeting Shadowheart, the nautiloid fight with the intellect devourers, meeting Astarion, the Harper Stash, the Fishermen/woman and the Mind Flayer, meeting Gale and opening the Mind Flayer chest out on the ledge. Part 2 is Gimblebock, Mari, Barton and mercenaries, the Dank Crypt, meeting Lae'zel and the tieflings, and completing the area.)

Here is the link to my blog. Please feel free to take a look and let me know what you think:

Note: Differences from the video game include:

Meeting Shadowheart and interacting with her, Religion Checks, Insight Checks, etc. and whether your PCs figure out she's a Sharran right away or not. Includes how to handle the little d20 githyanki box.

Investigation checks to determine exactly what happened on the Beach and Overgrown Ruins - the fishermen/women there, etc.

Intellect Devourer Fight - Changed how the encounter begins as well as how it plays out, and made Near-Dead Intellect Devourers actual Intellect Devourers.

Mind Flayer Chest Loot - Actual items that you might find in a mind flayer chest including a powerful gauntlet for those with higher Int.

Meeting Astarion and interacting with him.

Camping Supplies Optional Mechanic for 5e based on Create Food and Water spell and lots of discussions here on the forum.

Meeting the boar in the bushes and different options you might have with the boar. (Friend or Food?)

The Harper Stash and especially the Map. Used the game's World Map to break out all the EA map locations into actual separate locations that are hours apart. Added labels on the World Map to indicate each location including The Shadow Cursed Lands and Moonrise Towers. Also gave where you start in the game a name: Fishers' Point, and the nautiloid crashed into Fishers' Haven.

New Fishermen/woman encounter with mind flayer in the nautiloid. Mind flayer uses the Disguise Self spell to take on the appearance of the guy's daughter trapped in the debris.

Story behind the goblin patrol near the nautiloid and how they died as well as making a connection between them and the thralls on the ship.

Meeting Gale and interacting with him. Also using Gale to provide some much-needed backstory about Gorion's Ward, Bhaal and the Dead Three, Bhaalspawn, Irenicus, the Throne of Bhaal, Descent into Avernus, etc. that new players might really need to know to truly appreciate various events in the campaign.

Fast Travel new mechanics including fun random mishap limitations. Use the portals too much and you might end up at a random location you've never even visited - like maybe even the Underdark or the Goblin Camp. Best not abuse those Netherese Runes.

Long Rest/ Dream Lover revamp. Long Rest too much, and/or use those illithid powers too much, and you might just be visited by your Dream Lover...

OK. Fixed Chapter 1 Part 1 so that if the PCs are coming from any other direction besides the Beach/Overgrown Ruins Lower Entrance, there are descriptions for the DM to use. Previously, I just wrote, "This section assumes the PCs are coming from the area of the Beach/Overgrown ruins. If they are coming from any other direction, you may have to tweak the descriptions a bit," or something like that.

I want to try to make it as DM-friendly as possible. smile

Absolutely. All swearing has been censored in the Fan Fic with $#@$. In the Tabletop campaign, there's no need to even include it. You can add the Duergar swearing on your end. 😌

When it comes to The Forgotten Realms as I would run them, I liken vulgarities to a strong spice: best used sparingly (exceptions aside, of course).

Concerning improvements on the source material: if you haven't already done so, you may want to sprinkle in quite a few guard rails and parapets.

You mean safety measures? I have one mentioned at the overlook on top of the Overgrown Ruins. Lol. That's all the safety precautions you get.

It's pushback against Shove (pun NOT intended).
