I don't recall verticality in DOS2 being such a PITA. I think they just took verticality to the extreme in BG3 and don't have good options to fix it.

Cliffs and ledges on average feels like they're used a lot more in BG3 encounter design, along with many of them being seemingly higher than in DOS2 as well, from what I remember. DOS2 had far more mobility options, while here we just have Jump for now. The verticality and limited mobility (or maybe DOS2 had too much mobility?) is a contributing reason to why shove feels so powerful here.
