I think there is a range for weapons and spells, but I didn't get very far with my survivor/archer. IIRC, someone in the old forum posting about their experiments; they found a maximum range (could still target and fire, but not hit enemies), which was different between horizontal and vertical directions. I would think (but have not checked) that weapons and spells have a maximum effective range; as the sight range increases you can target enemies farther away, up to that maximum.
