If you have that much sight, go for it. You cannot see monsters that are outside a certain radius of yourself, determined by your Sight rating, hence you cannot target them. I have sight that extends beyond the screen, so your idea may very well work. I've never tried it though, being a Warrior.
It may be easier if you use CapsLock so that you have one hand free to use the hot-keys.
