Since Larian are extensively house ruling, I would like to try playing with extra feat picks.
I think coupling feats with ability score increases was a big mistake 5e did. That is not a fun decision. ASI's and feats are different aspects of character development and players shouldn't have to choose between them. 3e felt a lot better in this regard.
While I wait for 5.5e to fix this, I would settle for an extra feat at level 1 in BG3. Or a feat every 3 levels that would be separated from ASI's

I am not a D&D expert by any measure. But from playing Early Access it seems like the ability score feat is also always the best choice. If that is the case even like 75%+ of the time, then just give everyone ability score increases at whatever level intervals and allow everyone to pick feats apart from it. Seems like a much more interesting system to me.
