Aight if it's not the tadpole, it's something using the tadpole as a conduit for communication. But the tadpole is what's in there. You only get the dreams when you use the tadpole. I never use the tadpole (except 1 playthrough), so I never get the dreams. I'd assume the causal mediation there is the tadpole as it is the only factor in the emergence of the lover. That's what's up with the foregone conclusion about the tadpole being the dream persona. Also, the person encourages you in the direction of using the tadpole, and whenever you use the tadpole, you can feel it squirming in your head with delight and you get more dreams. It's not a foregone conclusion, but it seems like a strong suggestion.

A part of me thinks it's the sentience in the artifact. That maybe the artifact interrupted the typical tadpole process because of its proximity to the characters at the time of infection, which is why the characters aren't like the other true souls.
That's also possible.

By far a bigger problem is the way that the dreams themselves are invasive, creepy and, if you don't choose the head-over-heels dialogue choices, downright rapey... and yet, despite them being that way, everyone around you, including your character, acts like they were temping and appealing and seductive... and you absolutely cannot, in any way, act or suggest that they weren't or that you didn't find them so. There's a huge dissonance there, and if they fix that in a good way, then my complaints about building the daisy will be much reduced.
I completely agree. The way the dream person gropes you and keep on going physical even If you say No is very uncomfortable and I really can do without such rape fantasies in my games. It's the reason, I avoid using the tadpole ( with the exception of freeing SH).

Just a quick though on how it could play out better:
We didn't see our companions yet when we create that character, so no copying/ But let's apperance of our companion override that character appearance if we started a romance!
On one side i really like this idea ...
On the other side tho, i really hate it, since as i said i often makes my dream person the same as my PC so their darker self seduces them ... and i would loose it. :-/

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown

If they leave just the 'who do you dream of at night?' part, then the dreams are even better. Because you could be dreaming of a mentor, a sibling, an adversary... stress dreams or reliving fond memories
That would be the perfect solution for me.

This would be highly amusing, especially if the companion had the same thing happen to them using the player's character in their dreams.

Can be tweaked I suppose. Let's say you need to specifically trigger it somehow. For example tell your romanced companion that you would prefer to dream about them instead of that foul creature.

For those folks who keep saying people on this forum are being ‘difficult’ (not referring to anyone specifically here), it really does make you intrigued as to what they expect to find on a thing called a ‘forum’.

If you want unconditional one-note praise of the game, there’s a thing that apes what a normal forum is called BG3 Reddit. It’s a really great place for people who don’t want to read criticism of anything whatsoever. In fact, it’s heavily moderated to ensure everything is praise of BG3.

To reply to the topic – yeah, it’s a weird contrivance and is clearly not particularly intelligent as to what makes someone attractive. Sure, as a straight dude I would place high priority on ‘looks’, so the default pretty drow girl works for me, and it’s no problem.

But women don’t think like men: as we all know, there are some legit gremlins out there going out with amazing looking girls – sometimes half their age. So this gimmick is just another problem with Larian’s frankly inept writing team, in that they always boil humanity down to a simple-minded little maths equation, where ‘good looks’ = attractive and the black and white banality of their good and evil characters.

So of course this is a relevant topic, and no one whatsoever is being ‘difficult’ in thinking about it – again, it’s back to sheep versus humans. Humans think about what they’re presented with and, depending on their wit, challenge it if something seems off.

Sheep just eat the grass they’re given. They also very easily get stuck in ditches and whatnot. It’s because they’re considered somewhat dim.

Those aren't sheep. They're redcaps.
